An very efficient approach to generate degenerated oligonucleotides is the use of trimer phosphoramidites.

Of the 64 possible combinations of codons, only 20 codons
would be required to cover the 20 amino acids.

The trimers we are using are listed in the table below and
got the protection scheme described by Kayushin et al (1-3).

Every reaction factor of each trimer will be determined by Ella Biotech before synthesis. The reaction factor is critical since the trimers will likely be mixed and they have differing reactivity
in the coupling reaction.
